We would like to extend a warm welcome to both our returning and new incoming Salem families to the 2009-2010 school year!

The Salem Home School Association (“H.S.A.”) is committed to making their time at Salem a memorable experience for each and every one of our children. We do this by encouraging parents to participate in our various committees, organizing special events throughout the school year and by working closely with the outstanding staff here at South Salem Elementary.

The HSA website contains a variety of information regarding all Salem H.S.A. events and activities throughout the year. Many of these represent opportunities for parents to become involved. Your participation will help to make 2009-2010 school year at Salem another success. We do hope that you will join us.

For the 2009-2010 school year, the H.S.A will continue to follow the path that we set out on last year when we committed to focus our fundraising efforts on the acquisition of “SMART” boards for our classrooms. Because of our collective hard work, so far we have been able to purchase and install three new smart boards, bringing the total number within Salem to six. This new educational technology allows increasing numbers of our teachers to utilize cutting edge technology to get our children excited about learning.

As mentioned above, one of the things that help make Salem a special place is the extensive involvement of our parents. There are many ways to get involved throughout the year, regardless if you have only one hour to give or all the time in the world. There is even a special committee for working parents. This helps to ensure that your voices are heard so that we know what is important to our community. We would therefore encourage each of you to join us at some point during the school year.
