What's Happening at Salem

Salem HSA Meeting:
Please join us on Wednesday Jan. 25th at 7:00 pm in the Salem Library
for our first meeting of 2012. During our meeting we will discuss what
is coming up, budget, and anything you bring up.
PARP: Parent's
As Reading Partners is working hard with the theme Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory:Reading is the Golden Ticket. If you are interested in learning
more, or would like to help out, the next meeting is planned for Wednesday
Jan. 25, 10 am at Kate Hirsch's house (10 Knolls Lane). Please contact
Erin Scott, or Debra Radinsky if you would like more info. We will be
showing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Feb. 10 at free movie
night to help bridge into the PARP theme.
Green Week: Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle! This year, the Green committee is doing some great events
for Salem, including a recycling challenge, Lights Out and blanket collection.
If you would like more info, or would like to help out, please contact
Orange Girtz Ogirtz@hotmail.com, or Rachel Fain; georgiadogs8@optonline.net.
Book Exchange: Thank you to all that sent
in books. We can still use more! We are looking for ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Appropriate books (for Kindergarten through 5th grade). Every student
will have an opportunity to get a new book, so we need a lot of books.
Look through your books at home and see if there are any you could part
with. Your child will come home with a new book. The book exchange is
at the end of the month, but collection has already started. There is
a bin in the office for books. You can send them in your child's back
pack or drop them off in the office. If you would like to help out,
or have any questions, please contact Orange Girtz, or Rachel Fain.
Please note that all donations are appreciated, however totally voluntary.
Bake Sale:
The Salem Bake Sale will be held on Valentine's Day on February 14,
2012. This is a fundraising event and we hope to get everyone involved.
If you would like to bake or donate baked goods; donate a small amount
of cash toward this event; or volunteer to help at the bake sale, please
contact Ann Kim-Choi at kimann.j@gmail.com. Please look for a flyer
next week!
CHANGE THE DATE: Due
to a conflict with Weber Orientation, Conversations with the Principal
will change to Wed. Feb. 8, at 9:00 am.
SAVE THE DATE:
Friday March 2: The Brain Show will be coming to Salem. The Brain Show
is a family game show, which gets everyone involved and is great fun.
We will be doing a family night, with dinner, dessert and fun! More
details to follow.
